SMS – Smart Made Simple, Names Andy Elms as Head of Manufacturing for their Nottingham based facility.
SMA Appoints Andy Elms as Head of Manufacturing
Andy’s appointment will support the strategic growth of SMS – Smart Made Simple, and he will report directly into the Board of Directors, with the position being effective from Monday 3rd of September 2018.
Andy will be responsible for all things ‘operations’, including, but not exclusive to; manufacturing operations, Material Management, H&S, facility process improvements, lean projects, and quality control.
Andy’s most recent position was Regional Manager, Manufacturing Assembly & Aftermarket Repair Solutions for Panalpina, based in Dubai, UAE. In this role, Andy was the client’s primary technical interface for manufacturing and aftermarket reverse logistics, initiating various process led tools to measure operational performance and yield. Prior to Panalpina, Andy held a senior role within the multi-billion EMS organisation Foxconn. During his 11 years with Foxconn, Andy held various management positions, from PCBA Manufacturing Engineering & Quality Manager to Operations Manager of the Repair and Refurbishment Centre, through to EMEA Business Development Manager. These diverse, yet operationally linked roles equipped Andy with a wealth of experience, expertise, and know-how of an EMS environment from many perspectives, providing him with a holistic view of industry dynamics.

Andy studied Electronic and Electrical Engineering and holds numerous training and development certificates of achievement for Lean Manufacturing, Project Management, New Product Introduction, Account Management, and Quality Assurance, to name but a few.
