SIA Statement on NDAA Conference Report
WASHINGTON—The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) released the following statement from president and CEO John Neuffer in response to last week’s filing of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) conference report, final legislation that includes Title XCIX, “Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors for America,” which sets forth provisions authorizing the establishment of federal incentives to promote semiconductor manufacturing and federal investments in semiconductor research.
“Congress has a strategic opportunity to strengthen America’s economy, national security, supply chains, and technology leadership by investing in U.S. semiconductor manufacturing incentives and research initiatives. We strongly support the semiconductor manufacturing and research provisions in the NDAA conference report and urge their swift approval and enactment. We commend the amendments’ steadfast champions in Congress, led by Sens. Cornyn, Warner, Cotton, and Schumer in the Senate and Reps. Matsui and McCaul in the House. Once enacted, we look forward to working with leaders in Washington to ensure these provisions are fully funded to help keep America on top in chip technology.”
