SEMI SMT-ELS Standard Suite to be Demonstrated at IPC APEX in Booth 513

SMT-ELS User Group meeting and reception on February 5

Milpitas, CA  –SEMI will offer attendees to IPC APEX the chance to see the new SEMI SMT-ELS standard suite at work – leveraging a worldwide protocol and designed by the equipment vendors expressly for PLC-based and TCP-IP-based equipment. SEMI SMT-ELS (Surface Mount Technology – Equipment Link Standards) is the standards suite for the SMT assembly line that replaces the SMEMA interface and adds data communication capabilities to make the assembly line smarter.

SEMI SMT-ELS Standards suite uses the advanced general purpose equipment interface SEMI A1/A1.1 PESCI (Production Equipment Smart Connection Interface) for equipment interface tier and uses SEMI A2 SMASH (Surface Mount Assembler Smart Hookup) that was proposed by major SMT assembly equipment suppliers for the SMT assembly line control tier.

SEMI Standards are global standards that have been supporting semiconductor and related manufacturing lines for many years. Its development process is open for those who are interested. The SEMI SMT-ELS Standard connects, configures, and collects data from multiple machine vendors using an established protocol to realize the benefits of smart manufacturing at an affordable pricepoint.

There are 2 opportunities to learn more during the IPC APEX 2020 show, being held at the San Diego Convention Center from February 4-6:

  • View the demonstration line at Booth 513 on the show floor and talk with early adopters. The line features equipment from Panasonic, Yamaha, Fuji, and Juki and illustrates the seamless transfer of data from one machine to the next based on SEMI SMT-ELS.
  • Attend the SMT-ELS User Group meeting and reception on February 5, 5:00-6:00 pm (registration at 4:45) at the Marriott Marquis, San Diego Ballroom C (lobby level). This event is free of charge and open to anyone who wants to learn more. Presentations by the authors and current adopters will form the bulk of the hour-long structured discussion.
