North Atlantic Industries Announces the Release of Latest Generation of 68G5 3U OpenVPX Multifunction I/O Board

Three I/O and communication function module slots over 40 different modules to choose from

BOHEMIA, NY – North Atlantic Industries, Inc. (NAI), a leading independent supplier of COTS and Modified COTS embedded electronic solutions worldwide, announces the availability of the 68G5 3U OpenVPX Multifunction I/O board. The 68G5 has three function module slots that can be populated with over 40 types of NAI’s intelligent I/O Communications and Measurement/Simulation modules. The 68G5 employs NAI’s Configurable Open Systems Architecture™ COSA® to provide the highest packaging density and greatest flexibility of any multifunction I/O board in the industry. Preexisting, fully-tested functions can be quickly and easily combined in an unlimited number of ways. Each I/O function has dedicated processing, unburdening the system Single Board Computer (SBC) from unnecessary data management overhead.

Specifically designed for rugged defense, industrial, and commercial applications, the 68G5 provides significant cost benefits and delivers a COTS solution meeting a standard SOSA platform profile that accelerates deployment of SWaP-optimized air, land, and sea systems. The 68G5 can operate as a standalone MFIO solution, eliminating the need for a Single Board Computer (SBC), operating system and associated software royalty costs. They are offered in commercial, 0°C to 70°C or ruggedized, -40°C to +85°C temperature ranges.

“The 68G5 is NAI’s Multifunction I/O board for OpenVPX systems. It is fully integrated into our COSA architecture, enabling the use of a wide assortment of over 40 unique function modules, giving our customers a wide choice when selecting a COTS solution,” states Lino Massafra, VP of Sales and Marketing. “The 68G5 can also be used in one of our Sensor Interface Unit systems to offer our customers the widest array and highest density of customer configurable embedded computing, communications and I/O in the industry.”
