Local Chapter SMTA Expos Gain Traction in the Americas

EMSNOW Publisher Eric Miscoll stopped by the SMTA Dallas Expo last week . These SMTA regional events have become very popular with exhibitors and attendees alike. There is a huge benefit in getting closer to end customers, and meeting with people that might not have the time or budget to attend the national events. According to SMTA, the Local Expos and Tech Forums have become one of the great benefits of SMTA’s local chapters. Attendees get valuable technical info, meet leading suppliers, and get a FREE lunch. Exhibitors get a great opportunity to connect with people in their region who want to know about their products and services.

At the SMTA Dallas show, exhibitor space sold out five weeks in advance this year, compared to only a week before in 2018. This year, there were 87 exhibitors, with 15 others on a wait list. There were technical presentations, including from Nano Dimension; KYZEN Corporation, Plexus Corp., and ITW Contamination Control Electronics

“The EMS companies I visited commented that they are very busy, helping customers with proto through production, and across the end market verticals, including mil/aero, comms, automotive, industrial and medical,” reported EMSNOW Publisher Eric Miscoll, who attended the show. “I like the SMTA Chapter Expo because it gives me the chance to speak informally to our advertisers and readers about market conditions, and the latest new products being introduced. It is a table top exhibition, and there is no equipment, but that means it’s less hectic and I’m able to get the pulse on local market conditions,” he continued. “One thing I heard from several people was that Mexico is booming. We plan to follow up on that with our next edition of EMSNOW Mexico.”

There are SMTA Expos scheduled all over the country. Here’s where you can find one near you.
