Joining renewable energy: Queretaro’s industry next challenge
QUERETARO — The industry of Queretaro keeps the challenge of having a greater integration of renewable energies in its productive processes.
Arturo Ruiz Núñez, president of the Merchants’ Association of Electrical Equipment and Material in Querétaro, estimated that only 2% of the companies installed in the state have integrated the use of alternative energies, which is concentrated in branches such as automotive, chemical and aerospace.
The specialist stressed that it is necessary for the productive sector to become aware of the importance of incorporating alternative energies and added that the state has the potential to develop solar and wind energy. “The entity is characterized by having a high number of light hours, which facilitates the generation of solar energy,” he said.
In contrast to the lags in the incorporation of alternative energies, the entity stands out at the national level as the 3rd place in the generation of alternative. energies, producing close to 15% of the renewable and clean energy of its state energy production.
On the other hand, Laura Esquivel stressed that the challenge of promoting the use of corporate energies (at national and state levels) is still a priority and added that the Mexican Wind Energy Association is looking for appropriate areas with suitable climates to install wind farms.
