iNEMI Roadmap Highlights Series: Connectors

Wednesday, July 15, 2020 / 11:00 a.m. EDT (Americas)

The $63 billion connector industry includes electro-mechanical and fiber optic components that connect circuits, systems and infrastructures with demountable electronic, fiber optic and power-connecting components. The industry’s scope ranges from plugs invented in 1890 to expanded beam single-mode fiber optic connectors with micron precision alignment being used in high-performance computing and communications. Among the many dynamics facing this industry, one of the most profound is cloud computing from hyperscale data centers. These centers will adopt silicon photonics, optical interconnects and convert processing power of private and public computer systems to “data as a service.”

This webinar will provide an update on the connector industry drivers. It will present the technology needs and roadblocks for key applications segments, as well as the industry dynamics and future directions.
