India Cuts Import Taxes on Mobile Phone Components to Increase Manufacturing

India is reducing import taxes on several mobile phone components, including SIM sockets, plastic and metal mechanical parts, in a continuing effort to lure mobile phone manufacturing away from China. This move will benefit Apple and other mobile phone companies, as well as strengthen efforts to build a component ecosystem to enable India to be more than an electronic product assembling geography.
