Global Semiconductor Sales Top $40B While World Manufacturing Slows
Fort Worth, Texas – This week’s MarketEYE Global Update from leading specialty distributor of electronic components, TTI, Inc., looks at year over year sales from the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), who announced worldwide sales of semiconductors reached $41.4 billion for the month of November 2018, an increase of 9.8% from the November 2017 total of $37.7 billion and 1.1% less than the October 2018 total of $41.8 billion.
TTI MarketEYE contributor Walt Custer also says his resources “can smell the growth” in the Vietnamese printed circuit board (PCB) industry and offers an analysis of the region’s efforts to exceed the production value of Thailand. Custer also checks in on China, where 70% of the world’s PCBs are produced, and where the country is set to implement a new set of strict regulations on February 1.
Other update topics for this week include IoT spending forecasts, a look at Asian manufacturing wages, and volatility in datacenter server demand as forecasts move into the 2020 timeframes.
The Global Update is an online feature of MarketEYE at ttiinc.com. Produced each week by contributor Walt Custer, Global Update reviews trends and forecasts in the electronic components industry with specific focus on the semiconductor, interconnect, passive, and electromechanical segments of the market.
