Foxconn unveils software/hardware open EV development platform, Reports Digi-Times

A joint venture newly established by Foxconn Electronics and Yulon Motor has unveiled MIH, a software/hardware open platform for developing electric vehicles (EVs), according to Foxconn.

MIH features software definition, structure of layers for software/hardware and open ecosystem, and is expected to solve existing problems for EV development, said Foxconn CTO William Wei.

By virtue of software definition, EVs can be upgraded; the structure of layers for software/hardware can reduce time for vertical development of EVs; technology tools available on the open platform can lower entry barriers to the EV industry and encourage more companies to be engaged in EV development, Wei explained.

MIH will focus on flexible and customized modules of key components, light weight and integrated molding parts, EEA (electronic, electrical and automation engineering) architecture and autonomous driving.
