PowerGenix selects SigmaQuest for insight into next generation green battery manufacturing

Feb 16, 2009

PowerGenix, manufacturer of nontoxic, high performance rechargeable Nickel-Zinc (NiZn) batteries, announced that it has adopted SigmaQuest's SigmaSure quality management software, as a key tool of its ongoing corporate quality initiative. SigmaQuest, the leader of On-Demand, scalable software for product quality management, is providing PowerGenix with a suite of On-Demand software that provides real-time insight into global manufacturing operations. Now PowerGenix can more readily assess and maintain the quality of products and processes and make necessary adjustments prior to product shipment.

"Battery manufacturers must meet quality levels and production yields that are among the most demanding of any industry. Whether PowerGenix's Nickel-Zinc batteries are powering consumer electronics, power tools or electric vehicles, it's essential we deliver advanced performance our customers can depend upon," said Dan Squiller, CEO of PowerGenix. "With SigmaQuest's SigmaSure offering, we can identify, diagnose, and correct material and process issues in real time ensuring our products meet rigorous internal quality and reliability standards."

SigmaSure will be implemented at PowerGenix's high-volume manufacturing facilities and product development center in China as well as its research and development center in San Diego. SigmaSure's intuitive and easy-to-use Software as a Service (SaaS, Cloud Computing) will enable PowerGenix to easily integrate the system into its existing operations and quality program.

Nader Fathi, CEO of SigmaQuest, commented, "As visibility and quality are imperative for PowerGenix and its customers, we are very excited about our multi-year engagement. Moreover, our agreement ties well into SigmaQuest's focus, to help developers of mission critical product offerings detect, predict and avoid quality problems. The green battery industry's acceptable failure rates are some of the most stringent in any industry, and SigmaQuest provides the software that helps to assure that manufacturing and suppliers are delivering products as intended."
