Jun 24, 2008

ELCINA in association with National Instruments (NI) concluded the Workshop on Test & Measurement in Electronic Manufacturing. It provided a platform to share domain knowledge and best practices in the Test and Measurement domain.

ELCINA (Electronic Industries Association of India) in association with National Instruments (NI) concluded the Workshop on Test & Measurement in Electronic Manufacturing in Kanchipuram. This workshop provided a platform to share domain knowledge and best practices in the Test and Measurement domain. This exclusive workshop saw participation from companies across the electronic manufacturing sector including Motorola, TVS Electronics, Nokia, Flextronics, Foxconn, HCL Technologies, Lucas TVS, Delphi TVS Diesel Systems, Ashok Leyland, Central Electrical Testing Laboratory, Amara Raja, among others.

The welcome address by A.G. Rohira, President, ELCINA, emphasizing on the importance of having more manufacturing facilities in India, inspired the gathering and was well received by the attendees. The keynote address by S. R. Sabapathi, Managing Director, Qmax Test Equipments, on the latest trends and challenges faced by the Indian EMS Industry set the tone for the day's proceedings.

Jayaram Pillai, Managing Director for IndRA (India, Russia & Arabia), National Instruments said on the occasion, "In today's competitive environment, device manufacturers must find ways to shorten time to market to stay ahead of the competition. Being first to market with new technology can translate to big payoffs, while delays in a product release can mean the difference between success and failure. National Instruments strives to provide the Indian EMS players with advanced technology to address these challenges by simplifying the design process and reducing product test time."

Technical Experts from National Instruments delivered lectures on "Reduce Test Time and Cost using the Latest Test Technologies" and "10X Improvement in Productivity for Electronics Manufacturing" with live demonstrations and case studies. Mel Systems & Services presented on "Challenges of Optimizing Test Strategies in Electronics Manufacturing." In all, the day's proceedings gave the attendees a holistic perspective of the reliable, cost effective and scalable solutions offered by companies such as National Instruments and others for the EMS Industry.
