Accton lands Juniper's order for network switches
Jun 05, 2008
Accton Technology Corp., a Taiwanese leading maker of telecom equipment, has landed contract orders from U.S.'s Juniper Networks Inc. for network switches on an OEM basis, according to company sources.
Accton has supplied network switches for 3Com Corporation and Huawei Technologies Co. for some time, and, with one year of efforts, has
successfully won orders for the product from Juniper. The company has started delivery in this April to Juniper and plans to boost shipment of the products to the latter in the second half of this year. Orders from the client are expected to further drive growth for Accton's business operations in the future.
On the other hand, Juniper now commands a 56.5% share of the Taiwanese market for high-end routers as No. 1, and has already joined several construction projects of NGN (next generation networking) brought up by Taiwan's leading telecom companies, including Chunghwa Telecom Co., Taiwan Mobile Corp. and Far EasTone Telecommunications Co. Besides, the firm's information security products are well received among financial institutes and enterprises on the island.
Since officially launching a series of network switches early this year in Taiwan, Juniper has seen the product line become incredibly popular with corporate customers Furthermore, tight supply of the product has driven the firm to release more orders to Accton. The firm will hopefully become among Taiwan's top five suppliers of network switches by 2009.
At the moment, Juniper outsources its mainstream product routers from Flextronics International Ltd., a Singapore-headquartered EMS (electronics manufacturing service) supplier, and a small part of information security products from Accton. To maintain competitive selling prices of its network switches, the firm resolved to place contract orders with Accton.
