The Murray A. Percival Company was founded by Murray A. Percival Sr. back in the late 1950's. Prior to forming the company Murray was working in a two man Manufacturers Representative Agency (MR) servicing the automobile industry by supplying automotive interior components. His first position in sales came after receiving a degree in Civil Engineering and then serving four years in the US Navy's engineering department. It was clear to him after a short period of time as a MR that due to the low margins and the high expectations of the automobile companies, he should consider other industries to service and related products to sell.
On January 4th, 1960, the Murray A. Percival Company was founded. It was later incorporated in 1979 in the State of Michigan. Shortly thereafter, Murray was approached by the Electrovert Corporation, whom we still represent forty three years later, to sell their printed circuit board wave solder equipment. At that time the use of printed circuit boards was somewhat rare. It was truly a risky business to enter as the industry had not really emerged. Today in our fast paced world, circuit boards are crucial components of our every day life. They are used in a variety of products including but not limited to automobiles, medical equipment, military equipment, avionics, communications, computers, appliances, and entertainment products. The use of electronics equipment is wide spread and growing every day. In the 60's Murray was a pioneer servicing an emerging industry, one that has become a key component in the worldwide market of manufactured goods. Today the Murray A. Percival Company is a leading supplier to the Midwest's electronic industry.
Our Philosophy
The MAP Co was built on Murray Sr.'s strong foundation of honesty, integrity, loyalty and just plain doing what's right. His main goal in business was not only to provide a place where he could earn enough money to support his family, but to be a provider to his employees and their families as well. He often said that their families were his families and it was important to him that they be given a chance to grow right along with the company. Growth not just financially but morally and spiritually as well. Today we carry on with that same philosophy, taking care of our family, our employees and their families and our ever-growing family of satisfied customers. This same philosophy that built our company over the past forty-eight years is still present today.
